Mid-season recap:

Through seven games, no team has looked more complete than the Panthers. They are currently 25-0 for the spring (7-0 EYBL), and play some of the best team basketball you'll see at the grassroots level. After session two, they took home back-to-back championships at the Jayhawk Invitational & the Howard Pulley Invitational - the ladder being without star Gary Trent Jr. This crew knows how to win close games, and have shown the ability to put teams away. Head coach Antwan Harris is your mid-season EYBL Coach of the Year.

The Star(s):

Pulley will likely go as far as Trent takes them. EYBL's leading scorer in 2015, Trent (22.7 PPG, 6.0 RPG) has improved his abilities across the board, and has been much more efficient through seven games in 2016. While incredibly skilled offensively, Trent is much more than just a scorer - he's the undisputed leader for the EYBL's No. 1 squad. Trent's aggressiveness might be his most impressive attribute - he has 41 free throw attempts through seven games.

The Supporting Cast:

This may be the best supporting cast on the circuit. Veterans Brad Davison (14.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG) and Theo John (6.1 PPG, 5.6 RPG) have both improved immensely after tough seasons in 2015. All eight rotation players have assumed and accepted their roles, and it's paid huge dividends. Tre Jones (6.0 PPG, 3.9 APG) has been a godsend in the backcourt, as Pulley lacked a true floor general in 2015. Veterans Brad Davison and Theo John are playing very composed, while Gabe Kalscheur (9.0 PPG, 2.6 RPG) and Daniel Oturu (4.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG) - Pulley's two underclassmen - have stepped in and contributed immediately.

Session 3/4 Outlook:

Pulley will take the same core into the final two sessions, and their confidence level will be sky-high. The Panthers will enter Hampton as the No. 1 ranked team in the EYBL, and will now assume a large target on their back. The second half of their schedule presents some challenges not seen in their first seven contests. An undefeated regular season has never been accomplished in the EYBL, so expect Pulley to suffer a bump or two before the season closes out. Either way, it's clear that the well-coached Panthers are firm Peach Jam contenders.
